When I started this leg of my weight loss journey on January 1st, I set out to lose about 6.5 lbs per month, giving me about 39 lbs lost by July 1st. To say the least, I’ve blown those numbers clean out of the water. In my first month, I lost almost twice my monthly goal by losing almost 13 lbs. In my second month, I again almost doubled my monthly goal. At 23.6 lbs lost, I couldn’t be more tickled pink at my progress. I didn’t set out to lose almost 12 lbs a month. Technically, you should only lose between 4 and 8 lbs a month, but no more than 10, for healthy weight loss. But I’ve done everything right and have lost within a fraction of a pound of 12 lbs a month.
I exercise on an almost daily basis. I take off about 2 days a month from exercise simply because I’m afraid that if I take more days off from working out that I will start making excuses for skipping days of exercise or choosing the easier options for working out. I have been very lucky in that I haven’t incurred any injuries from working out so far. I hope it stays that way. But, with the addition of regular bicycling to my workout routine, that ups the chance of potential injury. So much could go so very wrong when you’re cycling around on roads shared with cars and trucks that weigh TONS. And I enjoy walks that last for at least 2 hours and burn over 700 calories.
I eat very healthy, especially when compared to how I was eating up until January 1st. I no longer eat fast food. If I eat out, it’s no more frequent than once or twice a week, but lately, it hasn’t been more than once every other week. And right now, I’m doing a cleanse that consists of ONLY fruits and veggies and juices I make myself fresh from fruits and veggies. It’s a 15-day long cleanse (you can find it at www.jointhereboot.com if you’re interested…it can be a little pricey, but I think it’s worth it to do it about twice a year). This is the third time I’ve done it. The longest I have made it is 12 days before I gave into my cravings for fried chicken. Haha! I’m hoping to make it at least 11 days this time around, it all depends on finances this time…my cravings won’t play a part in my ending the cleanse early as I really don’t have many cravings anymore thanks to regular and consistent healthy eating.
My current weight loss goal, when reached, will put me at 170 lbs. With the success I’ve had thus far, I’m thinking I can reasonably lower that goal to 160 lbs. I think it’s entirely possible for me to get to 160 now when I didn’t think that was really possible when I started out. But, now, I’ve seen what I’m capable of and now I believe I can do it…I just have to give it a try. I won’t *officially* change my goal to be 160 until I’ve actually reached my original goal of 170. If I can reach 160, I should find myself wearing a size 8…and I haven’t worn a size 8 since I was 23…that’s 11 years ago!!! How amazing would that be if I could get back into a size 8? Completely amazing!
